Job Description

  

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

 

The Plant Foreman is responsible for supervising, coordinating and reviewing the work of plant personnel in order to achieve the timely and cost-effective manufacture of modular structures. The Plant Foreman is responsible for the day-to-day operations that include oversite of staff, production, and safety.

 

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP:

 

  • Reports directly to Project Manager

 

AREA OF SUPERVISION:

 

  • Lead Hands

 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Blood Tribe Administration Policies and the Blood Tribe Housing Operations Manual.
  • Ensuring adherence to safety policies.
  • Promoting the importance and awareness of employee safety.
  • Meeting schedule requirements to quality standards.
  • Completing daily time sheets.
  • Directing staff of 20 plus employees with daily tasks.
  • Ensuring staff has materials and tools needed to perform their jobs.
  • Evaluating and recommending changes to methods/procedures in assigned area of responsibility.
  • Acting as liaison with other units of the organization.
  • Preparing reports regarding activities in functional areas.
  • Ensuring employees are aware of safety rules and regulations, job requirements, proper procedures and handling methods.
  • Ensuring manufacturing work adheres to and is in compliance with all applicable procedures, regulations and codes.
  • Working closely with the Project Manager in order to communicate and facilitate the completion of the project.
  • Providing strategic leadership, coaching/mentoring and training plant staff performing other duties as assigned.

 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

 

  • Ability to read and interpret blue prints.
  • Ability to work safely with a wide variety of hand and power tools as well as materials.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, including written, spoken and comprehension.
  • Ability to work well under pressure with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 

  • Will be required to bend, squat and kneel consistently through the work day.
  • Will be required to reach overhead consistently through the work day.
  • Must be able to lift 35 lbs overhead
  • Must be able to lift and carry 55 lbs.
  • Will be required to climb ladders during the work day.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT
 

The environment is a manufacturing/construction environment.  The assembly of units is done indoors.  The noise level is moderately loud.


Qualifications

  

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

 

  • Must have a Journeyman Carpenter Certification or relevant post-secondary education.
  • A minimum of three (3) years related supervisory experience is required.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in the modular manufacturing industry.
  • Must possess safety related certificates and tickets.
  • A combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a reliable mode of transportation.
