GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

 

The Homeless Shelter Attendant is responsible for the maintenance of the Standoff Homeless Shelter.  Participates in the performance of service care plans; interacts with clients and staff in a positive and supportive manner. Maintains an activity log for accountability requirements. 

 

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

 

-            The Homeless Shelter Attendant reports directly to the Acting Office Manager, FCSS

 

AREA OF SUPERVISION:

 

-            Positions that generally report to the Homeless Shelter Attendant include:

                               None

 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Blood Tribe Administration Policies and Procedures and the Family and Community Support Services Operations Manual.

 

  • Establishes a close working relationship with the Homeless Shelter staff on all tasks and duties.

 

  • Responsible for the cleanliness and general upkeep of the Moses Lake Homeless Shelter.

 

  • Responsible for maintaining an inventory of equipment and cleaning supplies and reports to the Manager on supplies to be ordered.

 

  • Maintains a detailed journal of activities in the building.

 

  • Should be able to provide some basic counselling to the cliental

 

 

NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS:

 

 

-            Be highly motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team.

 

-            Have excellent written and oral communication skills.

 

-            A good understanding of Native culture and issues.

 

  •  Should be able to communicate in Blackfoot.

 

  • Ability to respond to crisis situations

 

  • Basic Computer skills and knowledge also, would be an asset to have some maintenance experience

 

  • Must be willing to attend trainings for position

 

 


Qualifications

  • A grade 12 education, with 2 years related working experience working with the under privileged

 

  • A recent Criminal Record Check

 

  • A valid CPR/First Aid Certificate

 

  • The Blood Tribe’s COVID 19 Vaccination Policy requires all employees to be fully vaccinated. The successful candidate must be fully vaccinated and must provide Blood Tribe Human Resources with proof of vaccination. The Blood Tribe will provide reasonable accommodation if the successful candidate cannot be vaccinated due to grounds protected by human rights legislation.
