Job Description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

 

The Security Guard under the direct supervision of the Economic Development Director will ensure the safety and security of the Moccasin Flats Plaza (MFP) building and grounds. When necessary will be re responsible for writing reports and must be able to work as part of a team to enhance the businesses related to security matters.

 

 

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

 

                The Security Guard reports directly to the Economic Development Director.

 

 

AREA OF SUPERVISION:

 

                Positions which report to the Security Guard include:

                NONE

 

 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Blood Tribe Administration Policies and Procedures Manual.
  • Monitors the MFP after closing until opening to ensure safety and security of the building
  • Checks all doors, windows, locks and building exterior for signs of damage or theft.
  • Walks around the building every half hour checking doors and windows to ensure security.
  • Encourages individuals loitering to leave the premises.
  • Must detail incidents and conditions of premises in log-book on a periodic basis during security shift.
  • Completes detailed incident reports, which can be forwarded to the Police or used in the Court of Law.
  • Operates a zero-tolerance policy towards individuals who are intoxicated near the building or otherwise exhibiting disruptive behavior.
  • Reports suspicious activity to the Blood Tribe Police.

 

 

NECESSARY TRAINING KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS:

 

  • Must be able to work shift work.
  • Must be dependable.
  • Must be in good health.
  • Must be neat and professional.
  • Must be detail orientated.
  • Must have no difficulties arriving at work.
  • Must be able to remain calm and neutral when confronted with difficult situations.
  • Must have good written and oral communication skills.
  • Self-defense or security training is an asset.
  • Must possess a good understanding of Indigenous Culture and Issues
  • Related Experience in a Indigenous Organization Is an asset
  • An ability to communicate in Blackfoot would be an asset.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

 

 


Qualifications

NECESSARY TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Must have a Security Officer Training Certificate with three years related work experience.
  • Must have a valid First Aid and CPR Certificate
  • Must submit a current criminal record check.
  • Must have a valid class 5 driver’s license.

 

 

The Blood Tribe’s COVID 19 Vaccination Policy requires all employees to be fully vaccinated. The successful candidate must be fully vaccinated and must provide Blood Tribe Human Resources with proof of vaccination.
