Job Description
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Harm Reduction Worker provides harm reduction support and information to clients. This will include an integrated approach in distributing harm reduction supplies and pertinent information as it relates to the wellbeing and safety of the clients and community.
This position will serve dual duties in the areas of Harm Reduction Distribution, Security/ Maintenance and supervision of work experience students assisting with the above duties the harm reduction activities and maintenance at the Spirit of Hope Community House.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports directly to the Harm Reduction Coordinator.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with Blood Tribe Administration Personnel Policies and Procedures.
Harm Reduction:
Provides education and awareness to community members utilizing the harm reduction model of care.

Organizing, tracking and distributing Harm Reduction supplies to community members utilizing this service.

Keep an inventory and tracking of the Harm Reduction Supplies and Naloxone Kits on a daily basis.

Organizing the packaging of harm reduction supplies and advise coordinator when supplies need to be ordered.

Data entry of Harm Reduction Supplies compiled at the end of each month

Ensuring naloxone kit distribution supply sheets submitted to the coordinator at the end of each month.

Other related duties as it relates to harm reduction activities facilitated by the Blood Tribe Drug Harm Reduction Project.

Will require supervision and leadership skill and maintain a non-judgmental approach in the delivery of services.

Maintenance/ Security:
-
Oversees and ensures the Community House is maintained and kept in a safe, clean condition both inside and outside, while working from a preventive care and maintenance-ensuring sidewalks are cleared of snow and ice, yard is kept tidy, garbage and recycling is completed daily. This task will be completed in a supervisory role though engaging volunteers, peer support worker and practicum students.

Maintains security camera system and report any suspicious activity to the BTP immediately. Keeps daily log of maintenance and security activities.

Will provide functional supervision and orientation to work experience / practicum students who assist with the above duties.
NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS:

Must demonstrates professionalism in all dealings with visitors and staff.

Flexible could be asked to do shift work or address urgent matters as it relates to the services of the Harm Reduction Project, must be able to work independently and with minimal supervision.

Clear Criminal Record /Vulnerable/Child and Youth
-
Must be physically fit to handle all aspects as per job related requirements.

Basic Computer Skills, good written and verbal communication skills.

Certificate in Naloxone Training
-
Knowledge of Harm Reduction Theory and Practice as it relates to the addiction recovery processes.

Highly motivated and dependable working from a non-judgmental attitude as this positon requires working with the at-risk populations.

Maintain and support the recovery model of care.
-
Any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
NECESSARY TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
-
Trainings certificates in harm reduction, addiction and recovery, with 1-year related experience, a combination of education and experience maybe considered.

A Security Certificate would be considered an asset

Standard Fist Aid/CPR

Covid -19 Safety Protocols

Working knowledge of the Blackfoot language and cultural protocols

An updated Criminal Record /Vulnerable/Child and Youth
-
Must have a valid drivers license and a reliable mode of transportation
