Job Description



The Data Entry/ File Clerk provides administrative services for the Training and Employment Centre.  The Data Entry/ File Clerk performs a variety of clerical and administrative tasks.




  • The Data Entry/ File Clerk reports directly to the Employment & Skills Training Accountant




  • Positions which report to the Data Entry/ File Clerk include:





  • Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Blood Tribe Administration Policies and Procedures, and the Blood Tribe Employment and Skills Manual.


  • Assists clients and the public in contacting the appropriate or requested employee.


  • Obtaining signatures for cheques as needed.


  • Provides information as requested and appropriate to all visitors to Centre or all those who phone the Centre.


  • Handles clerical duties such as filing, typing, managing correspondence, and organizing incoming and outgoing mail.


  • Assists visitors in completing application forms as appropriate, interpreting information requested where possible and as appropriate in order to assist visitors.


  • Types materials such as letters, memos, minutes from rough drafts and general instructions, formatting and editing materials as necessary.


  • Records and sends all faxes for the department and records, then delivers incoming faxes to the appropriate department employee.


  • Records and keeps all incoming tickets from trainings.


  • Records and distributes cheques.


  • Deposits incoming cheques as required.


  • Attends weekly staff meetings and updates colleagues on initiatives.


  • Assists with Career Fairs and other department events and initiatives.


  • Makes call backs for interviews for youth and other programs as required.


  • Provides reception services such as answering calling, taking messages, and greeting clients for the other tenants in the building. When required.


  • Records and distributes faxes and other incoming documents for the other tenants in the building.


  • Data Entry


  • Maintain file room.


  • Fill in reception duties when required.





  • Must be able to deal diplomatically and professionally with staff and general public.


  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.


  • Must possess excellent public relations and interpersonal skills.


  • Must have good organizational and time management skills.


  • Must have excellent listening skills.


  • Must be proficient with word processing and spreadsheet software.


  • Must be able to communicate effectively in Blackfoot.




  • Must have a one-year Office Assistant Certificate with a minimum of two years related work experience.
  • Must have a valid drivers license and a reliable mode of transportation
