RE-POSTING
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Accounts Clerk is responsible for aiding the accountant in all areas related to finance. Duties will include accounts receivable and payable duties, collecting and recording monthly payments, coding and posting to the appropriate account, preparing daily deposits to bank, collecting all accounts payable invoices, code and prepare for payment, data entry and printing cheques. Reconciles accounts payable and accounts receivable and prepares monthly statements relating to A/R and A/P customers. The Accounts Clerk will be maintaining the following programs: Kainaipokaiksi Daycare, Ninasako Daycare and Kainai Child Development Centre, Aapiikayi Centre and Saipoyi Centre

Positions that generally report to the Accounts Clerk include:

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
-
Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Blood Tribe Administration Policies and Procedures and the FCSS Department Operations Manual.

Performs all Accounts Receivable functions for the accountant, including coding monthly payments received, cash receipts and data entry.

Performs all Accounts Payable functions for the accountant, including coding all invoices and entering data to computer for cheque processing.

Prepares Accounts Receivable reports and reconciles for the tenth working day reporting deadline.

Prepares Accounts Payable reports and reconciles for the tenth working day reporting deadline.
-
Prepare monthly payroll expense on excel spreadsheet and enter data to Sage for the tenth working day deadline.
-
Collect and post monthly daycare fees, post payments and provides monthly reports.
-
Maintains and updates all files.
-
Attend meetings as required.
-
Assists the Accountant in the annual audit and budget preparation.

Assists in other office duties as required.
NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS:
-
Must possess a thorough understanding of the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and International Financeial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

A complete or comprehensive understanding of accounting practices and procedures.
-
The ability to act responsibly and ethically when working with sensitive financial information.
-
High level of accuracy and efficiency.
-
Must possess excellent organizational and record keeping skills.
-
Must possess good verbal and written communication skills.
-
Proficient in Microsoft 365-excel, word, outlook and power point. SAGE Accounting software and database software.
-
An ability to communicate in Blackfoot is an asset.
-
Must be able to work independently and with a team.
Qualifications
NECESSARY TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
-
Must have a Business Administration Diploma with an accounting major and a minimum of three years related working experience.

A combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.
-
Must have a valid driver’s licence and a reliable mode of transportation.
