GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Receptionist has a unique responsibility of making a first good impression of the organization. The receptionist is the first point of contact to the community members and the general public, so they must be helpful, friendly, and professional to our visitors. They are responsible for greeting visitors, handling inquiries from the public, and coordinating incoming and outgoing calls.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
- The Receptionist reports directly to the Kainai Peacemaking Administrative Assistant
AREA OF SUPERVISION:
- Positions which generally report to the Receptionist include:

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Blood Tribe Administration Policies and Procedures.

Answers all incoming telephone calls for KPP and directs and screens the calls to the requested or appropriate employee, taking messages when necessary and ensure all employees receive the messages promptly.

Greets the public and assists them with their requests or referring their inquiries in a professional and courteous manner.

Contacts Peacemakers/Elders, staff and other parties to relay messages for meetings, sessions and other information related to the Peace-making Program.

Picks up, sorts and records all incoming mail and hand delivers the mail to the KPP staff.

Provides a comfortable reception area for departments and cliental and visitors.

Punctuality and attendance are a key factor as KPP is a public service for the Blood Tribe.

May be assigned filing and other administrative duties

Performs other related work assignments.
NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS:

Must be able to deal diplomatically and professionally with staff and general public.

Must have excellent verbal communication skills.

Must possess excellent interpersonal skills.

Must have good organizational skills.

Must have the professional ability to work under pressure.

Must have excellent telephone etiquette.

Must be consistent and reliable.

Must maintain confidentiality in the workplace.

An ability to communicate effectively in Blackfoot is an asset.

Must have excellent computer skills and be proficient with the latest Microsoft Software.

May be assigned filing and other administrative duties.

Any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
NECESSARY TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
-
Must have a one-year Office Assistant Certificate with a minimum of three years related experience.

Must submit an updated Child Intervention Record Check and Criminal Record Check with application
