Job Description
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Assistant Land Registrar obtains the necessary information required by the Land Registrar. The incumbent assists with interviewing Tribal Members, documents all information received and combines it with the researched information, then documents and presents a complete file to the Lands Registrar. The incumbent also assists in keeping all Lands Records current by recording all changes as approved by Chief and Council.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
- Reports directly to the Lands Registrar.
AREA OF SUPERVISION:
- Positions that report directly to the Lands Registrar include:
None.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Blood Tribe Administration Policies and Procedures and the Blood Tribe Land Management Department (BTLMD) Policy Manual.

Supplies legal land descriptions and general land information, upon request to the departments within the Blood Tribe Administration, Blood Tribe Entities and/or agencies.

Assist with Interviewing the general public for Land Transactions, Joint Registration, Crop/Grazing Agreements and Land Occupancy Applications, if required (pending Conflict of Interest).

Assists in updating the database to reflect the land transactions that occurred during that year, including all information on the present crop year, occupants by treaty number, schedule of payments and terms of permits.

Assists with the BTLMD staff with interviews with land occupants to endorse their Agricultural Memorandum of Understanding and Grazing Memorandum of Understanding, if required (pending Conflict of Interest).

Prepares and submits monthly reports to the Land Registrar.

Assists the Land Registrar in compiling the Land Registry - Annual Report.

Assists with other related duties.
NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS:

Must possess excellent research skills.

Must have good organizational and filing skills.

Must be highly motivated to accurately document dates of records.

Must be able to use word processing and spreadsheet software.

Must have excellent interpersonal skills.

Must have excellent listening and interviewing skills.

Must be able to keep a confidence.

Must be able to communicate in Blackfoot.
Qualifications
NECESSARY TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
-
The ideal candidate must have a two-year Business Administration (or related) Diploma with 3 years related experience

A combination of education and experience may be considered
-
Must have a valid driver’s license and a reliable mode of transportation

Must submit an updated criminal record check and an updated drivers abstract.
