Blood Tribe FCSS - Early Learning and Childcare Program
Permanent/Seasonal
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Bus Driver position is a seasonal position operating from September - June. The driver will report directly to the BTELCC O & M/Transportation Supervisor and will be responsible for transporting Head Start children over specified routes to and from the Blood Tribe Early Learning and Childcare Centre (BTELCC) on a daily basis.

The Bus Driver reports directly to the BTELCC O & M/Transportation Supervisor
AREA OF SUPERVISION:

Positions which generally report to the Bus Drivers include:

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESONSIBLITIES:
-
Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Blood Tribe Administration Policies and Procedures Manual.

Pick up children at home or at Ninastako Day Care (NDC) Centre or Red Crow College Day Care (RCCB) Centre and bring them to the BTELCC Centre and back when classes are done.

Comply with local traffic regulations.

Report delays or accidents to BTELCC O & M/Transportation Supervisor

Inspect busses and check gas, oil, tires and water before departure.

In the event of a bus problem, report it to the O & M/Transportation Supervisor so the problem can be corrected in a timely manner.

Must demonstrate ability to maintain confidentiality.
-
Must possess a positive attitude and understand the needs of the children.
-
Be emotionally mature and able to follow directions.
-
Ability to work cooperatively with parents, BTELCC staff, BTA staff and other entity personnel.

Perform other duties as assigned by the O & M/Transportation Supervisor from time to time.

Maintain a log-book of activities on a bi-weekly basis.

Any other duties as assigned
NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS:
-
Must be organized and be able to manage own time.
-
Must be dependable.
-
Must be sensitive to the children’s needs and hold information strictly confidential
-
Must have initiative and be able to work independently.
-
An ability to communicate in Blackfoot is an asset.
Qualifications
NECESSARY TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
-
Must have a Class 2 driver’s license and “S” Endorsement (if you require your “S” Endorsement, FCSS will assist in obtaining the Endorsement).

Must possess a valid standard First Aid Certificate and training in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and child and infant CPR
-
Must submit an updated Criminal Record Check and a Child Intervention Check
-
Knowledge of Blackfoot culture, protocol and language would be considered an asset
